An 11-year-old girl was allegedly attacked by a 12-year-old boy in a racially motivated assault.

Neveah Thomas says she was battered with a metal pole by another child for saying 'my black is beautiful' as she played with her friends.

Nevaeh, of Kansas, US, has now called for an end to racism after opening up about her experience.

Her mother Brandi Stewart says the youngster was visiting pals locally when a white boy, who lived in an apartment across the road, starting showering the group with abuse.

The boy left and allegedly returned with a knife, it is claimed.

Later, he returned a second time with a pole and allegedly struck Nevaeh, knocking her unconscious.

She received eight stitches to her mouth and spent the night in the hospital.

The girl is recovering from concussion but has spoken about her ordeal.

“We need to stop hate racism,” she said after the attack last week.

“It’s wrong and it’s wrong to hurt people with words and weapons.

Nevaeh says she had never met the boy before.

She has spoken out to try and put an end to racism in her area.

"It’s OK to be different or have a difference of opinions. But it’s not OK to hate and judge each other on their colour and their skin.

“I think we should start talking about these things before another kid gets hurt because they have they have the wrong skin color.”

The family claim it took two hours to get the police to take the boy into custody.

He has since been charged with one count of aggravated battery. Officials say is now under house arrest.

Her family claim it took two hours to get police to arrest the boy, 12.

Brandi says her hurt doubled when she found out the attack was racially motived.

“As a mum, my biggest worry had been that Nevaeh might be kidnapped when she went an played outside,” she told kansascity.com after her daughter returned home.

“I don’t think I ever would have imagined that I ever would have had to worry about her being a victim of a racially motivated attack.”
