Teen who stabbed boyfriend to death after drinking and smoking cannabis jailed for life

A TEENAGER who stabbed her boyfriend to death was given a life sentence yesterday with a 17-year minimum term.

Ellie Wain, 18, had been drinking and smoking cannabis before arguing with Kieran Brown.

Ellie Wain, 18, appeared in Coventry magistrates’ court accused of killing teenager Kieran Brown.

Wain knifed Kieran, 18, in the heart outside their Coventry home in June.

A jury at the city’s crown court convicted her of murder.

A witness told them Wain had warned she would “stab anyone that came near” before the killing.

Ellie Wain stabbed her boyfriend to death and has been given a life sentence with a 17-year minimum term.

Kieran Brown was knifed to death outside his home in Coventry after arguing with Wain.

Passing sentence, judge Andrew Lockhart QC told her: “It’s a chilling insight into what was in your mind.”

In a statement issued by police, Mr Brown's family described him as "a kind, loving son, grandson and great-grandson".

"His life was cut short by the cruel actions of Ellie Wain in a fit of temper because things weren't going her way," they said.

'Kieran was always full of life and was never able to sit still for long', his family said.

"We won't see Kieran grow into a man, he won't get married or have children.

"There is no sentence that will bring Kieran back. Our family are living a life sentence of our own - a huge hole has been left where Kieran should be."
